The first in our Platform Focus series looks at the new SA18: An 18m working height tracked articulating boom lift with jib. With features unique to the Bluelift range of tracked (spider lift) access platforms, read on for the lowdown.

First up is the SA18 - Bluelift's newest model, with which they have created a unique offering, giving up to 18m working height, and up to 9.3m outreach from a compact base, and with an outrigger spread of only 3m2.

Bluelift are known for their quality of finishing and their unique tracked platform features:

Flush-mount cage - there are no services to the underside of the cage on Bluelift machines, helping to prevent accidental collisions, and ensure the operator is in total control of the platform at all times

Quick-release cage - All Bluelift machines feature an easy to use quick-release cage which is ideal for transport and maintenance

Automated self-stabilising system - takes the guesswork out of levelling the outriggers, also significantly improves the operator experience

Auto Start-Stop - significantly reduces the environmental impact of the platforms, cutting down on noise pollution, emissions, and seriously improving fuel efficiency

Full range of lithium options

Functional Memory System - The Bluelift FMS makes repetitive tasks simple, remembering the lift / lower sequence for the operator

In addition to these standard Bluelift features the SA18 offers compact dimensions, excellent outreach, and small setting area.

Options on the SA18 include:

High capacity model

Basket rotation

Radio remote control

Track width adjustment system

Air and/or water tube to basket

What do you think - will 18m machines be a mainstay of powered access fleets?  How far will the trend for compact models go?  What else do you want to see from manufacturers like Bluelift in the future?
