If we only find time to deal with the urgent stuff how will we ever manage to improve our businesses? Prioritising projects that deal with improving efficiency of resources, or safety can seem like a low priority, but making time for them means saving your company, business, or department time and money. Now surely those are two things that should be at the top of your list?

Throughout 2014 there was an ongoing theme to everything we did at HLS - improving time management and efficiency. We went through all kinds of iterations of workload management and job role allocations and hopefully came out of the year far more efficient than we went into it. It's important for us because we are an ISO 9001 company, we're committed to continuous improvement, and above all else, we want to provide the best service possible to our customers!

January is always a good time of year to reflect on progress, and what needs to be your focus for the coming weeks, months, and year, so we thought it might be a good time to share a useful tool with you:

Most people get bogged down in boxes 1,3, and 4 and spend next to no time on box 2.  We see this time and again with customers who are desperate to address safety and productivity issues within their business but are constantly being pulled off on seemingly more urgent tasks. Only if/ when those safety & productivity issues are deemed urgent do they get addressed, and that means working very quickly, sometimes at the cost of doing a thorough job.

We want to take our time with our customers, understand their needs properly, build a business case with them, really ensure we are working towards the best solution for them, so if productivity and safety improvements, or resource efficiencies are on your To Do List for 2015 give us a shout now, let's start the conversation, and we'll do our very best to keep you on track!
