Baker Labels invests in Hugo lift

Baker Self Adhesive Labels, a leading trade label printer, have invested in a Hugo lift for their state of the art label printing facility.

Baker Self Adhesive Labels, a leading trade label printer, contacted us looking for a specialised product for a specific job. We carried out a full survey of the workplace and the loading / unloading activity and devised a custom built roll transfer device to fit to the adjustable cargo shelf on our Hugo lift, a multi-functional push-around access platform, helping operators work safely at heights of up to 4.2m.

Baker group wanted to use Hugo to pick stock in the warehouse but also engaged HLS to solve a working at height problem caused by having to load their horizontal printing machine with rolls of printing material, sometimes weighing up to 42kg. The rolls have to be loaded onto the drive spigot of their Nilpeter horizontal printing machine at a height of around 2.5m from the ground.

With the transfer device fitted manual handling for the operator is virtually eliminated, and in addition the operation can now be carried out with just one operative.

Steve Baker the Owner and MD said "When I first saw Hugo, I knew it could streamline our working at height and material handling issues. It has also proved very useful for basic maintenance like changing factory lights and cables. We saw it as a useful tool for removing several Health & Safety issues"

HLS helped meet Baker's requirements and came up with an innovative solution to problem. For more information on how Hugo can benefit you in your workplace please contact us and speak to a member of our team on  0113 287 8446.
